Review: Summer Sounds With TPBR

I’m always in search of a summer anthem (last year it was Always Like This by Crouch End’s ever more successful Bombay Bicycle Club) and this year it’s a fusion of Country, Punk, Ska and Balkan Folk, courtesy of the The Penny Black Remedy (TPBR) and their superbly named single, You Have Wasted Your Life, Now Please Stop Wasting Your Money. The track has an instant resonance and is wildly catchy.

OUT NOW: Limited Edition 7” Vinyl

As you may already know, our new single, ‘You Have Wasted Your Life, Now Please Stop Wasting Your Money’, was released for download at the end of June 2010.

Well, we are downright dizzy with delight to announce that we have just had a very limited amount of singles pressed on 7″ ‘dollar-green’ coloured vinyl.

This is actually the first time that any of us have been on an actual record made of actual vinyl, so we are beyond giddy with euphoric excitement about …

TPBR Live: Take Back Parliament

Our dear chums at Eye See Sound have teamed up with the courageously cognizant organisation Unlock Democracy to host an event in aid of the campaign ‘Take Back Parliament’. The campaign is all about trying to change the electoral system so that we actually live in a democracy, which of course, would be lovely.

The event is being held in The Luminaire in Kilburn, London on Friday the 9th of July and also on the bill are JohnnyGoneHome and True Ingredients. The doors open at 7.30pm, the performances begin at 8pm and the show end at 11.30pm.

TPBR’s Glastonbury 2010 Review

It has been just over a week since returning from our very first Glastonbury festival, we ended up playing four shows over the course of our stay there; The Lizard Stage, The Bourbon Street stage, the Tadpole Stageand the Strummerville Stage at 2am. Also rather exciting, we’ve heard through the proverbial grapevine that our new single ‘You Have Wasted Your Life, Now Please Stop Wasting Your Money’ was getting airplay on BBC Radio 6′s coverage of Glastonbury. Both Shaun Keaveny and Mark Radcliffe have been heard saying some extremely nice things about us.

Next Stop: Glastonbury Festival

We got our festival season off to a rollicking start last Saturday at The Big Session in Leicester. We had an absolute blast and would very much like to say an enormous thank you and give a collective group hug to everyone involved (organisers, crew, other acts, bar staff and, of course, the audience). We are still giddy with glee to have met so many delightfully lovely new chums.
