To celebrate the release of our debut album ‘No One’s Fault But Your Own’, The Penny Black Remedy and Cadiz Music will film and record headline shows at two key London venues – The Borderline, on Friday 27 November and Charlotte Street Blues on 12th December 2009.
UNITED KINGDOM, LONDON, 10th November 2009 – ‘Balkan Country Punk Juggernauts’ The Penny Black Remedy announced their global distribution deal with Cadiz Music for their debut album ‘No One’s Fault But Your Own’. The album will be distributed through Universal and will be available through independent record stores and for download on iTunes, Amazon, Napster, eMusic and HMV Digital. Richard England, CEO of Cadiz Music says: “We’re very happy to have The Penny Black Remedy on board with us, they’ve produced a killer album and are definitely one of the most exciting live bands I’ve ever seen”.
The London quartet draws on genres that include country, rockabilly, Balkan-inspired folk, punk and ska. ‘No One’s Fault But Your Own’ is a passionate and sophisticated debut album shot through with a rich seam of dark, yet playful humour with song titles such as ‘You Have Wasted Your Life, Now Please Stop Wasting Your Money’ and ‘Come Back When You Have More Ambition’ which was played on Steve Lamacq’s BBC Radio 2 show as the ’song title of the week’.
The Scottish/English/Croatian/Dutch group won the prestigious Gibson Guitar Best Alternative Act at the 2008 UK Indy Awards, and shared bills with The Buzzcocks, Starsailor, The Boys, Joanna Newsom and Alabama 3. Their energetic live shows have been wowing big audiences at the HMV (Kentish Town) Forum, 100Club, The Borderline and Stokefest in London, the Wintertuin and Valkhof Affaire festivals and Merleyn in Holland, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and most recently in September 2009 at a packed house in the Melkweg in Amsterdam…..The Penny Black Remedy look very much set to make a big impression on the 2010 festival circuit.
Keith M Thomson, songwriter and lead singer of The Penny Black Remedy says: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with Cadiz, whose commitment to quality and integrity is unparalleled. We are particularly excited about seeing our album on the shelves of record shops across the globe, which of course has been our collective dream since we first picked up our instruments”.
To celebrate their partnership Cadiz Music and The Penny Black Remedy will be putting on a very special headline show, which will be filmed and recorded, at famous London venue The Borderline, on Friday 27 November. Tickets are £7.00 and can be bought from HMV Tickets.
As the festive season is approaching, the band are also very proud to announce their Christmas show (also to be recorded on film) on Saturday 12 December at brand-spanking-new purpose-built blues venue Charlotte Street Blues Bar in London which has already played host to some legendary performers such as John Mayall and Matt Schofield. Tickets are £8.00 and can be bought from Ticket Web.
