TPBR’s Glastonbury 2010 Review

It has been just over a week since returning from our very first Glastonbury festival, and the right sides of our collective brains are still whirring with awe, gasping with glee and dancing with delight at the entire epic experience. We ended up playing four shows over the course of our stay there; The Lizard Stage on Thursday night, which was extra special, as not only was it TPBR’s first ever Glastonbury performance, but it was also great to team up with our old chums Mark and Lee, who were running the stage. The other three shows, we played were all on the Sunday; The Bourbon Street stage at 1pm, the Tadpole Stage at 10pm and the Strummerville Stage at 2am. All of which were enormous fun and we would like to thank everyone involved in the running of those stages for their professionalism, enthusiasm and for inviting us to come and play in the first place.

Also rather exciting, we’ve heard through the proverbial grapevine that our new single ‘You Have Wasted Your Life, Now Please Stop Wasting Your Money’ was getting airplay on BBC Radio 6′s coverage of Glastonbury. Both Shaun Keaveny and Mark Radcliffe have been heard saying some extremely nice things about us. We’ll keep you posted of exactly what they said when the full details come in.

As well as seeing many other phenomenally well known and other lesser well known, but quality acts, we also found a little time to help some extremely talented kids form a couple of fledgling rock bands. Each morning of the festival, the wonderful charity Replay had an area in the Kidz Field where they were teaching children of all ages how to play a myriad of instruments and then gave them the opportunity to perform their original compositions on a Glastonbury stage and also provided them with a fully equipped mobile studio to then record them in. It was an honour and a pleasure for us to be a part of such an incredible program and we feel privileged to have witnessed rock’n'roll history being made, as we watched The Radiations and The Red Nights kick-start their campaign of worldwide domination of the pop charts.

We were also delighted to see so many of our old chums there and were tickled a lighter shade of pink at meeting so many new chums. Our immediate neighbours at our campsite in the beautifully clean and chilled Green Futures area were particularly lovely and kind to us. I very much suspect that we shall be seeing a lot more of them in the future.

All in all, it was a truly magical and inspiring experience for us all. And we didn’t have to employ the use of a single wellie or waterproof.

Roll on Glasto 2011.

Big, big love

TPBR
